the New Orleans Pelicans, a professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pelicans are a member of the Southwest Division in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The team was established in 2002 initially as the New Orleans Hornets and later changed its name to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. They play their home games at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
